What is Communications Skills for Professionals (CSP) for CGA?

Background
CSP is an initiative resulting from a strategic partnership between KIOSK ESL Communication Solutions and the Certified General Accountants of Ontario. This program has been created to complement the CGA program of professional studies in the development of high-functioning accounting professionals. Each participant will be provided with key strategies and tools that are essential for individuals to succeed as leaders in their workplace.

Program Overview & Benefits
The CSP for CGA program is a multimedia, hands-on workshop and seminar series, which focuses on developing strong practical skills in the areas of:

  • Workplace communication skills: business meetings, presentations, feedback, business writing, reporting, negotiation, networking, interviewing, teamwork, and more.
  • Cultural integration skills: Canadian business culture, workplace etiquette, ethics, labour laws, and human rights. (This component only applies to the IEP program)
  • Professional development strategies: self assessment, Canadian labour market information, among others.

Trainers
All of the seasoned trainers are from the business community and they possess qualifications in language skills training and another profession. They bring a world of practical knowledge and Canadian real-world experience to our students.

Duration of Program
This part-time program covers a total of 18 online class hours, and 2 hours total of private one-on-one coaching over a six week period. The CSP has been created for the ambitious student who wants insight and applied skills to be successful in a professional work capacity.

A look into Canadian hiring practices tells us:

"87% of senior executives said inadequate language skills stopped
them from hiring Internationally Educated Professionals (IEPs)"

In contrast, "very few of those IEPs saw their language as inadequate."

Communication skills gap remains a chief barrier to
professional success and development for IEPs
